BuildGets BID

Check your engineer's estimate against real bids

Updated · BuildGets Team

For cities, utilities and consulting engineers: upload your engineer's estimate and see, before you advertise the job, which unit prices sit above or below what contractors actually bid on public work. Free, and your file is not stored.

Your estimate (Excel or CSV)

It needs a header row with a description, a unit and a unit price column (quantity is optional). Up to 300 items. Converting a PDF? Turn it into Excel first.

How it works

Each item is matched with the BuildGets BID index of public bid prices: real unit prices from bid tabulations, checked so that unit price times quantity matches the extended amount. Items below the middle half of bids are marked low, above it high. Items that do not match the index are left blank.

Questions

How do I check an engineer's estimate against the market?

Upload the estimate as Excel or CSV. Every item that matches our index of public bid prices gets the median bid and the middle range, and items outside that range are flagged so you can review them before advertising the job.

Is my file stored?

No. Your browser reads the file; only item descriptions and units are sent to match them with the index. Prices and quantities stay on your computer.
